Some people suffer more severe forms, such as clinical depression, agoraphobia, or panic attacks. Our EAP counselors are trained to offer support and guidance in developing effective coping skills for any level of depression or anxiety. Drug or alcohol abuse
EAP Solutions conducts a thorough assessment for substance abuse or addiction and coordinates treatment at the most appropriate level of care. Employees referred to EAP Solutions for drug and alcohol problems may be monitored by an EAP counselor for a period of up to one year to ensure support through the initial recovery process. Family members, friends, or co-workers who are concerned about an individual's drug or alcohol use also can receive confidential counseling and support through EAP Solutions.
Stress
Stress is a common reaction to the increased demands of work or home. Although most people experience stress, not everyone feels confident in his or her ability to handle the additional pressures. Through its network of knowledgeable experts, EAP Solutions can provide counseling and assistance for many other issues and concerns, including financial consultation and legal counsel. If a problem requires assistance outside our areas of expertise, our staff provides referrals to other community resources.
What should you expect from your EAP Counselor?
Your EAP counselor is skilled in helping you identify the key elements of your concerns and walking you through a problem solving approach to get the situation resolved effectively and rapidly. If you are in need of additional services, EAP Solutions counselor will get you to the right resource.
Problem Assessment
A professional, licensed counselor meets with the client to confidentially discuss the issue and gather pertinent information. This initial assessment usually takes one or two 60-minute sessions. During the assessment, the client and counselor develop a plan of action. Severity of the condition, health care benefits, geographic location, and ability to pay are all taken into consideration when planning treatment
Counseling Formats
EAP Solutions counselors use a solutions focused counseling approach which is an effective short term counseling model designed to help the employee identify the key elements of their concerns and develop strategies to resolve the problem. Research shows that brief counseling is more effective than long term counseling and that early intervention reduces an employee's need for longer term therapy.
Reliable Follow-Up
As part of our commitment to employee health and wellness, EAP Solutions staff members follow up on a regular basis with clients to ensure that their problems have been handled appropriately. This important component of our service ensures that each client is pleased with the consultation offered, and the treatment option is appropriate for the problem being addressed. Employees, managers, supervisors, and the organization are surveyed regularly to ensure quality service.
Referrals
In about 30% of our cases, employees are referred to other resources. Some of these are community based resources while others may be physicians, psychologists or counselors for additional care. EAP Solutions staff facilitates these referrals by discussing the need for the referral with the employee, initiating, if possible, the referral in their office during a scheduled visit and ensuring that the referral is completed by following-up with the employee after the referral is made. In addition, EAP Solutions staff works with the employee's insurance carrier to make sure that the referral is to a provider in the employee's health insurance network.
